Via
Fort William - from Glasgow
take the A82 up the side of Loch Lomond to Crianlarach, across Rannach
Moor and down Glencoe to Fort William. Continue on the A82 (sign-posted
Inverness) to Invergarry. Here turn Left onto the A87 towards Kyle of
Lochalsh. Shortly after passing Eilean Donan Castle turn right onto the
A890 to Lochcarron - this road is single track in places so drive with
care. After crossing the railway line at Strathcarron you come to a T
junction. Turn Left onto the A896. This takes you through Lochcarron
village. Continue on this road to Shieldaig - again single track in
places. As you approach Shieldaig you go over a cattle grid and the
road forks - take the Left fork along the coast and we are the second
house on your right

The
above route takes you through dramatic Highland scenery but can be
quite slow if the roads are busy. It will take about 5 hours to get
here from Glasgow.
PLEASE NOTE - the A890
has been closed between
Attadale and Stromeferry since 22nd December 2011 because of multiple
landslides. It is
uncertain when it will fully reopen. There is currently limited opening
as detailed below - cars are being allowed to drive along the railway
tracks in convoy. Long delays are occuring.
.
We strongly advise you to
travel to Shieldaig via Inverness at the present time.

Please check that
the A890 is open before using the west coast route or you may have to
make an 180 mile diversion!!!!

The A890 road has been closed since 22 December last year as
the result of a landslide. The Highland Council has appointed TRAC

Avalanche
Shelter. They have 40 staff working round the clock to achieve an early
unrestricted opening of the road.
